Pleasant View, through the Faith Family Team, has participated in the New Madrid Rely for several years now. At Malden in May a raffle was held for a beautiful tractor lawn decoration donated by Mr. David Rogers which was won by Laurie McCord. We are thankful for our teams diligent efforts for Relay for Life and continue to pray for our many local residents effected by cancer. Erin Smith is also sponsoring a team participating in Dunklin County Relay for Life to make Pleasant View members part of a two pronged attempt to help defeat cancer.

The nursing home in Campbell is one of several nursing homes sponsored by General Baptists. As you can see from the photos it is a beautiful facility and many cakes were donated along with ours for a successful cake walk. On the one had that is what it is. However, perhaps a better chapter would be “A Shepherd and King.” God had warned Israel what they would get when they requested a king. David, as Saul before him and all subsequent kings after him, was at his best when he acted like a Shepherd who sought to tend, protect, nourish and care for the people. David, as Saul before him and all subsequent kings after him, was at his worst when he acted like a king who could do anything he wanted and take anything he desired.

One of the reasons David is called a man after Gods’ own heart is David’s shepherding nature. God, King of the Universe, is the Shepherd of His people. In David’s shepherding moments we see one who honors God above all things and serves as a type of the Shepherd to come who will also be known as the Lamb of God.
